Prince William calls for the working class to be more diverse by ensuring that entertainment industry awards reflect wider society. Without any hint of irony, the Prince castigated the audience for holding an award ceremony to reward rich white folks with limited talent.

He urged the industry to follow the example set by the Royal Family, who have recently taken in a Black woman and ‘a ginger’. “I know it is not easy to make such changes, fighting traditional prejudices and inbuilt power structures can be hard. Do you have any idea how difficult it was to get Grandpa to accept a Ginger in the family?”

Urging the film and TV industry to make changes, “Perhaps you could start slowly, allow ethnic minorities to do the cooking, table-service and car-parking and in 100 years who knows, maybe they can join you for dinner. It is the 21st Century, you need to be more open in your outlook. Of course, if it doesn’t work, you can just send them off to Canada where they like that sort of egalitarian rubbish.” Said the Prince.
One BAFTA member said, “It’s a bit rich being lectured on diversity by someone from the most elite family in the world. Anyway, we’ve taken huge steps forward in terms of our diversity but you have to understand, we can’t cast Idris Elba in everything.”
